Charles Wesley (18 de dezembro de 1707 - 29 Março 1788)
Charles Wesley foi o líder do movimento metodista juntamente com seu irmão mais velho John Wesley. Charles é mais lembrado pelos muitos hinos que compôs.
Já publiquei de Carlos Wesley o hino "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing" hoje publico o hino "Jesus, Lover of My Soul"

HISTÓRIA

 "Escrevi Beulah Land em 1876. Eu só consegui escrever dois versos e o coro, depois fui vencido e cai sobre o meu rosto. Era um dia de domingo. No domingo seguinte escrevi o terceiro e quarto versos, quando então, fui dominado pela emoção e eu só conseguia orar e chorar. A primeira vez que foi cantado foi numa manhã de segunda-feira, num culto metodista em Filadélfia, Pensilvânia. O bispo McCabe cantou para os ministros reunidos. Desde então, este hino tem sido cantado em todas as reuniões onde o povo se congrega. Nunca recebi um centavo pelas minhas músicas. Talvez seja esta a razão de terem se tornado tão popular. Jamais eu poderia fazer qualquer trabalho para o Mestre e receber por isso".
A secretária da Associação Cristã de Moços (A.C.M.) de Plymouth, Inglaterra escreveu para Ira D. Sankey uma bela estória de uma jovem que, no seu leito de morte, entoou as palavras deste hino, exatamente no momento em que passava para o lindo país.
Ira Sankey cantou esta mesma melodia no féretro de Sweney (o próprio compositor), na igreja em que ele foi membro, em West Chester, Pensilvânia, no dia do seu funeral, 10 de Abril de 1899.

Matthäus Passion (BWV 244)

 "Lembro-me de ter entrado no seu quarto no momento em que se preparava para compor o solo de viola O Gólgota. Que impressão experimentei ao ver-lhe o rosto, ordinariamente tão calmo, da cor das cinzas, e inundado de lágrimas. Felizmente não me viu e pude tornar a sair silenciosamente, indo sentar-me a chorar na escada. Ao ouvir essa música ninguém imagina o que ela custou. Tive desejos de aproximar-me dele e passar-lhe os meus braços em torno do pescoço, mas não o ousei; alguma coisa em seu olhar aterrorizava-me. Sebastian jamais soube que eu lhe surpreendera nas angústias da criação e ainda hoje me regozijo com isso, pois foi um minuto do qual somente Deus deveria ser testemunha".  Anna Magdalena Bach.

Matthäus Passion (BWV 244):
Bach's St. Matthew Passion was written in 1727. Only two of the four (or five) settings of the Passion which Bach wrote have survived; the other is the St. John Passion. The St. Matthew Passion was probably first performed on Good Friday (11 April) 1727 in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, where Bach was the Kapellmeister. He revised it by 1736, performing it again on March 30, 1736, this time including two organs in the instrumentation.
