Philip Doddridge (26 de junho de 1702, Londres - 26 de outubro de 1751, Lisboa). Pois este Cristão multifacetado, deixou-nos uma miríade (pelo menos trezentos e setenta, outras fontes dão a conta de mais de quatrocentos!) de hinos, de grande qualidade literária e de elevada doçura espiritual, que ainda hoje são cantados, alguns deles nas Assembleias cristãs. Entre eles, “Hark the glad sound, the Saviour comes” (Escutai o som jubiloso, aí vem o Senhor), “O Gog of Bethel”(Ó Deus de Betel) e "O Happy Day, That Fixed My Choice” (Ó Dia Feliz, em que aceitei...).
